I always loved the descriptions Tolkien gave of the Dwarf strongholds throughout Middle Earth.  They always seemed so grand, and massive.  This LEGO mountain fortress is exactly how I pictured them!

The gates of Bara-Kir guard this LEGO mountain fortress.

I always love how the gates to dwarf strongholds are always several times taller than they need to be.  Everything is always built on a much grander scale.  I especailly like the gems set above the gatre, and the golden axes adoring the doors.

Also fitting is the pathway leading to the LEGO mountain fortress of the dwarfs.  The intricate stonework creating perfect geometric shapes.  I love this pressure fit building technique.  And the stone statues of dwarfs gaurding the entrance are wonderful.  Who are these elves seeking audience with the dwarf king?

I adore all the fun little details outside the LEGO mountain fortress.

• The dwarf picking mushrooms


• The dwarf gathering wood


• The colorful trees.  They remind me of Michigan in the fall


• The wonderful flowers.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen parts used this way before


• The dwarf carrying carrots across the bridge


• The dwarf picking cherries


• And are those grape vines I see for making wine?

The large beacon fire atop the LEGO mountain fortress is sure to catch the attention of allies for leagues.  I love how the turret is built right out of the stone.
