LEGO Space Building the Future was not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting a book that showed some beautiful LEGO space creations, and maybe give some instructions. Weill, it did. But it did so much more. It told the story of a fictional space-race, space exploration & colonization, insurrections, etc. This book really has it all, and it’s all done superbly.
One of my favorite things is a very small thing. I love the use of modern minifig heads with classic space minifigure bodies.
Throughout the book, there are sections like the one below outlining the Federations technology including robots and spaceships. The builds are fantastic, as are the descriptions. Again, it’s a little thing, but I like the thought behind building angled hulls to deflect space debris and protect the crew. Brilliant, and practical!
I can’t recommend this book highly enough. It is a must have for the LEGO fan in your life!

Tim Goddard is a contributor to the New York Times-bestselling The LEGO Ideas Book andThe LEGO Play Book. He has also participated in product development with the LEGO Group. He works as a laboratory manager and lives with his wife, Sharon, in the UK.
